Where will you go when you die?
The Bible is very clear that there is a literal hell and a literal Heaven. And our spirits will spend eternity in one or the other. The choice is ours to make. Choosing to put our full faith, trust, and hope in Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven (John 14:6). Choosing not to is assurance of hell. Friend, more than anything at all, our hope with this site is to see souls saved to the glory of God. Deciding where you will go when you die is the most important decision you will ever make this side of death and it’s a decision that has either eternal blessings or eternal consequences – both beyond our human comprehension. Please keep reading if you’re not 100% sure that Heaven will be your home when you die.
If you are like most people, you believe you’ll go to Heaven when you die. You may not know why or even how, but you assume that your upbringing, your religion, church membership, or just being a “good” person or better than the average person will be enough to earn your way into Heaven. Sadly, every one of these reasons falls short of God’s holy standard. If any of these could work, then why would God give His only begotten Son and allow Him to be persecuted and killed by His own creation? Simply put, God is Holy and will not allow sin into Heaven. God is Love and loves you and me enough to give his only begotten Son as the only perfect, sinless, sacrifice that could pay for all sins and provide a way for each of us to know Him and get to Heaven when we die. Please read on.
Does God want you in Heaven? Absolutely. The Bible tells us in 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But God gave us volition – a free will – so again, the choice is ours to make. Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
The first thing you must do is to realize you are a sinner. Friend, you may think you’re a good person and likely you are. But you must realize that before a Holy God, your goodness by whatever standard you apply, falls short of God’s holiness. You are and were born a with a sin nature. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. This fact is easy for some to come to terms with and a struggle for others that don’t think of themselves as a bad person when comparing themselves to others out in the world. Yours and my measure of goodness matters not. One sin is one too many for God and no sin will be allowed in Heaven.
Did you know that sin is the cause of death? Romans 6:23 tells us for the wages of sin is death… Can any of us argue with this statement of fact? We will all die right? But friend this is the blessed hope of our loving Savior; let’s continue reading the rest of Romans 6:23 …but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What an amazing gift from the Creator Himself. The gift of eternal life that was bought and paid for by the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. But like any gift, you must accept and receive it to enjoy it.
You now know from the Bible that you’re a sinner, that you will die someday, and that God loved you so much that he gave you the gift of his only son (John 3:16). Now you must “choose” to accept this gift – to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. John 3:17-18 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. God didn’t send his son to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. There’s that free-will choice again. And verse 18 is clear that as you’re reading this without Christ in your heart, you are already condemned in your present condition. An act of faith in Christ is required.
The Bible is very clear that we are saved by grace through faith. You cannot earn your way into Heaven. No amount of good deeds, good works, religion, heritage or simply being better than the average person is going to save you. You must accept Gods free gift. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
So how do you accept God’s free gift? Read Romans chapter 10, verse 9. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Friend, it really is this plain and simple. Romans 10:13 tells us, For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. That “whosoever” is for you, me, and everyone. There’s room in Heaven for “whosoever” will call upon the name of the Lord. Isn’t God good?
Once you have called upon the name of the Lord to be saved, you are guaranteed eternal life with Him. John 10:27-28
If so, simply go to him in prayer and ask Jesus Christ to come into your heart. Admit you are a sinner and acknowledge that you know Jesus died on the cross for your sins. Acknowledge you know there is no other way to get to Heaven than to accept God’s free gift and you totally trust in the finished work of his son, Jesus Christ. Once you have done this, you will be saved.
As I mentioned at the beginning, this is decision you need to make and not making a choice is indeed a decision and one with dire, eternal consequences. None of us is guaranteed tomorrow. Please don’t put off this most important decision. Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ today!
Friend, if you just asked Jesus Christ to come into your heart and save you, we rejoice with you. In fact, if you would give us the blessing of rejoicing and praying for your spiritual growth, we encourage you to contact us today and share this wonderful decision with us. Did you know that there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth? (Luke 15:10) That means there’s joy in the presence of the angels of God over your soul today.
So now what? God has many blessings in store for you. Once you have accepted God’s free gift, you can be 100% assured you will spend eternity in Heaven. This is the greatest blessing you will ever receive. However, to better understand all of God’s blessings, you should read His Words daily in the Bible, join a good Bible believing and preaching church where you can learn and grow in the Christian Faith, surround yourself with other believers, and be sure to share your new found knowledge – the gospel of Jesus Christ – with others.
May God Richly Bless You.
