The following quote is often attributed to Edmund Burke, but the source is unclear. Regardless, the statement is powerful and true: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men should do nothing.”
Friend, this is an urgent request, a call to action for good men to do something!
Our time to act is now only days away before President Obama will likely sign a nuclear deal with the Nation of Iran. A deal that would lift sanctions on the leading sponsor of worldwide terror and put $150 billion dollars into the coffers of these exporters of terrorism. Worst of all, The United States of America will have knowingly and willfully turned it’s back on the Nation of Israel, God’s chosen people.
Before moving on, I’ll lay a little foundation on that last statement about Israel being God’s chosen people. For readers that are not Christians or for Christians that are not familiar with scriptures, here are a few verses to illustrate the importance of America’s friendship and continued support of Israel. The Bible is very clear throughout the Old and New testament scriptures that the Jews, the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Israel) was, and still is, God’s chosen people.
God made a covenant with a man, a righteous man, Abraham, known as the friend of God. (James 2:23). God blessed Abraham’s devotion and faith by making an everlasting covenant with him. Genesis 17:4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Genesis 17:7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
And a little later in Genesis, God further validates this covenant through Jacob and changes his name from Jacob to Israel, Prince with God. Genesis 35:9-12 9 And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padanaram, and blessed him. 10 And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel. 11 And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins; 12 And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.
Lastly, it’s important to note and capture God’s promise to bless those that bless Israel and to curse those that curse Israel. Genesis 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. Make no mistake, God can’t lie and His Word is as true today as it was in the beginning.
The chief character throughout the entire Bible is Israel and God’s chosen people. I’m thankful that God turned to the Gentiles (anyone other than the Jews) to provoke His rebellious chosen people (Romans 11:11) and salvation was made available to whosoever will accept the gospel truth by faith. The Bible from Genesis to Revelation is ALL about His people. Someday, God will redeem and restore Israel to their rightful heritage. But this topic is for a different blog and another day.
This Nuclear Deal with Iran is not a good deal for The United States of America or for our most loyal ally, the Nation of Israel. Iran is the largest sponsor and facilitator of terror in the world and continually threatens American assets, American citizens (i.e. Saeed Abedini), and certainly of the Nation of Israel to which they frequently and publicly through official channels declare and call for the destruction of Israel (see Slate.com article, Iran’s Khamenei: No Cure for Barbaric Israel but Annihilation, November 9, 2014)
While President Obama has stated he would veto any attempt by the Senate and Congress to thwart his deal, it appears he has convinced and persuaded enough misguided Senators and Representatives to have a veto proof majority. But the polls show Americans are against the deal 55% to 25% in favor it (Quinnipiac University poll, August 31, 2015). And the five world powers involved in the negotiations (Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia) don’t have the integrity, the will, or the stamina to get the right deal in place; they don’t have the desire or the fortitude to keep at it and get it right. So it’s time for the American people and our Nation to stand alone with Israel in need be.
That’s where the urgency comes in. Especially if you live in state where your U.S. Representatives and/or U.S. Senators are in favor of this deal, you must take action to let them know where YOU stand on this issue. We need to change their minds. They need to hear from you, their constituents. We are a republic, a representative form of government, and it only works when we the people clearly, boldly, and persistently tell our representatives how to vote on our behalf. Please call, email, or post on your representative’s social media pages how they should vote on this important issue.
The Bible teaches that every man (every soul), will bow before God someday and give an account to Him for our actions (Romans 14:11-12). Do something! Don’t let it be said of you that good people did nothing.

Post-Blog Note: Would you agree that there is a 100% chance you will die someday? Can you guarantee you’ll wake up tomorrow morning? Would you also agree that eternity is forever and ever? Friend, while the subject of death is uncomfortable and the result of death is permanent, Jesus paid the sin debt that each of us owed, but had no way to pay it. That debt required a holy sacrifice that only Jesus Christ could pay. And He loved you enough to pay your sin debt too.
